To join the Children of Light, contact the church office for further information.
The Children of Light is a group originally designed for grade school aged children and their parents (although all ages are welcome), to come together and do charitable and faith based activities. Some of these activities include helping out with Special Olympics, visiting nursing homes, putting together activity kits for Children's Hospital, helping provide food and clothing for the poor, going to Adoration, etc. This is a great opportunity for parents to live by example - an opportunity for children to see their parents living the way Jesus instructed us to live, doing the kinds of things Jesus told us to do. Parents, this is your time to shine!
Before joining the Children of Light, all adults must have completed the Protecting God's Children class and have their fingerprints on file with the school. As a member of the Children of Light, you will not be "required" to participate in a set number of activities. You will simply have access to the schedule of activities that the Children of Light will be attending, and you are free to sign up for as many or as few events or activities as you wish.
Special Events
The Special Olympics is having their Swim Meet on Saturday, October 29th. The hours are from 8:30am until noon, or noon until 4:00pm, and it will be held at Upper Arlington High School. Click here to sign up
We will be having two "No-Sew Sewing Circles" to benefit the Christ Child Society. They will be on Friday, September 23rd, and on Friday, November 4th in Marian Hall from 7:00pm until 9:00pm. To participate, we ask that you and your kids bring fleece (you will need two pieces that are 1 - 1 1/2 yards long each - per blanket you want to make), a pair of scissors for each of your children (that you want to let use scissors), a pencil, and a ruler. There will be tables and chairs set up to work on. And, of course, we will have lots of snacks to munch on while we are "working". Fun will be had by all, and a lot of needy and homeless babies will have a nice warm "woobie" of their own to keep them warm this winter.

This year's Christmas Dance for the Frankling County MRDD will be on Friday, December 2nd. This year, there will be two working shifts. The first shift will be from 5:30pm to 7:30pm and we will be serving the pizza and drinks (this is better for the smaller kids). The second shift will be from 7:30pm to 9:30pm and during that time we will be dancing and having a good time interacting with the participants (this would be good for middle school or high school aged kids). On the second Saturday of every month, we provide homemade cookie for the Girls' Scioto Correctional Facility. Participants are asked to sign up for a Saturday that they can make 51 homemade cookies, and to take those cookies to the home of the Cookie Coordinator. The cookies need to be packaged 3 per baggie - for a total of 17 baggies. The Cookie Coordinator collects all the cookies and takes them to the prison (the Cookie Coordinator will be announced each month to those who sign up). The remaining dates for 2011 are as follows: September 10th (plain sugar cookies, October 8th (chocolate chip), November 12th (oatmeal - NO RAISINS), December 10th (sugar cookies - frosted Christmas cut outs). Baking for Ronald McDonald House
The Ronald McDonald House is in need of cookies/ baked goods that need to be home made, contain no nuts (because of potential allergies), and need to be easily held, such as cookies, rice crispies treats, unfrosted brownies, chocolate covered pretzels, etc. They place a goody tray near the doors so that family members can grab a treat as they walk out to go to the hospital. This is an all year round need. Please deliver your goodie donation to the Ronald McDonald House at 711 Livingston Ave. (just south of Children's Hospital)
