Faith Formation Classes
6:15pm – 7: 30pm on Mondays.
Beginning on September 16th
We are excited to announce our upcoming plan for family faith formation at Saint Michael Parish. This spring, Father Dinovo has inspired the faithful of Saint Michael’s by preaching the mission of the Catholic Church, specifically the mission of Saint Michael’s, and proclaiming the gospel with new vigor through his vision Our Faith, Our Mission.
We have been inspired through Our Faith, Our Mission and through Saint John Paul II teaching to align our program to reflect the integral importance of parent and family life in catechesisSaint John Paul II states, “Family Catechesis precedes, accompanies, and enriches all other forms of catechesis.” Through reflection on our current programming, we have determined that our current program concentrates mostly on the children’s faith formation rather than that of the family. In response, we are aligning our programming to focusing catechesis on the entire family and honoring and supporting parents as the first catechists of their children.
The goal of our Faith Formation programming is to support and empower families to be active missionary disciples within their home, school, and parish through faith formation, prayer, and community.
First Communion is a two-year preparation process. Attendance in Faith Formation classes for year 1 and year 2 of the program is required. Year 1 and 2 are typically taken in 1st and 2nd grade.

Family Catechesis Nights (monthly)
1st Monday of the month, 6:15pm – 7:30 pm
The first Faith Formation Class of each month will be a Family Catechesis night. The format of the night will be catechetical teaching on God’s Plan of Salvation, with K-5th, 6-8th, and parent sessions teaching the same subjects at different levels. Then, all the families will gather together for prayer, worship, and adoration.
The following weeks of Faith Formation classes that month will be related to the teaching taught on Family Catechesis nights. All children will learn the same content at age appropriate levels with grade-appropriate activities.
Please direct any questions about Family Catechesis Nights to Maggie Maurer, parish Director of Catechesis.
Right of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC)
For children in high school who have not yet received sacraments, classes will be organized according to the needs of the students each year, with instruction on the fundamentals of our faith and specific sacramental preparation. These Rite of Christian Initiation for Children classes begin in the fall and are offered as needed.
Parents interested in enrolling their children in RCIA for children or high schoolers should contact David Szolosi, High School Youth Ministry Coordinator.
