outside front view of saint michael church

During the past several months (perhaps even years), there have been a series of phony e-mails being sent to unsuspecting persons (clergy, teachers, parishioners, others) from alleged priests of the Dioceses – including a phony one from Bishop Campbell – requesting funds to purchase iTunes and other gift cards for alleged charitable and pastoral reasons. Also there are text messages that are being sent to convey similar requests.

Please be advised that if you or anyone you know receive any kind of communication/solicitation they should contact the individual at their parish office, school, or other “real” telephone number to verify the authenticity of the solicitation or, at least to notify the person that a scam is underway using their identity. As a rule, clergy do not and should not make these kinds of requests. I know I don’t.

Thank you,

Fr. Dinovo
