Becoming Catholic (OCIA)

Are you someone or do you know someone who...

  • Has expressed an interest in becoming Catholic?
  • Was baptized Catholic as a child, but has not celebrated the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist?
  • Was raised Catholic but feels rusty on the basics of the faith?

We offer an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more about the Catholic faith. Sessions focus on the teachings and experience of Church and prepare individuals who choose to do so celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist during the Easter season. You are encouraged to participate in the process with your questions, your insights, and your faith story in a warm accepting setting. Meetings will be held on Sunday mornings at 9:00am leading up to the 10:30am Mass in the Upper Meeting Room as well as Wednesday catechesis nights after our weekly Eucharistic Holy Hour. Our catechesis nights on Wednesdays are open to all parishioners who desire to learn more about and deepen their Catholic faith.

What is OCIA?

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA, formerly RCIA) is the process by which Protestant Christians, unbaptized individuals, or Catholics who have not yet received all sacraments of initiation are welcomed into full communion with the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church founded by Jesus Christ. This Adult Catechesis is the means of preparing individuals to go through these rites and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ and his Church..

Children 7 and older interested in receiving sacraments of initiation can learn more about the Order of Christian Initiation for Children (OCIC) on our Children and Youth Catechesis page.
