Our Sisters

Religious Sisters are an important part of the history of St. Michael the Archangel and continue to serve in both our parish and school today. From the early days of our history when two Joliet Fransiscan Sisters helped to open st. Michael School in 1946, St. Michael has been happy to welcome religious sisters as part of our community.

Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist

Today, the convent serves as the home to 6 Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist. The sisters joined us in 2011 when they were invited to come work at St. Michael School in the Principal position as well as in several teaching positions. The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist recently celebrated their 25th anniversary as an order and have dedicated themselves to the education and formation of children in Catholic schools all over the country. They developed the Disciple in Christ, Education in Virtue curriculum and have been an integral part of our school community. Currently, Sr. Mary Regina serves as our school principal along with teachers Sr. Andrew John, Sr. Teresa Paul, Sr. Ave Maria and Sr. Maria Rosario. Also residing at the convent is Sr. John Paul who works for the Office of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Columbus.

Fransiscan Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary

The sisters serve our Diocese in a variety of ways with Sr. Riya Mary serving here at St. Michael. Sr. Riya Mary serves as our Pastoral Minister helping in a variety of ways from taking the Eucharist to the homebound and nursing homes to keeping our Church and Sacristy organized, clean and beautiful for us to celebrate Mass.
