The safety and well-being of our children is a top priority. At St. Michael Parish and School, we adhere to all of the requirements established by the Diocese of Columbus for the Protection of Children. You may find information on these requirements, as well as information on reporting complaints, on the Diocesan Website at columbuscatholic.org/protecting-gods-children.
Per diocesan policy, all adult volunteers and employees that minister to or with children need to complete a Protecting God’s Children training course and have a Background Check completed and on-file with the Diocese of Columbus.
Protecting God’s Children courses are free of charge and are offered at various parishes throughout the Diocese; listings can be found by going to www.virtus.org. You will need to select “create new user/registration,” and then you will be prompted to create a user name, submit an email address, and view and register for one of the available courses.
Background Checks need to be completed and and the results sent to Regina Quinn, at the Diocese of Columbus. Background checks can be completed at Fast Fingerprints:
1486 Bethel Rd.
Columbus, OH 43220
For volunteers who have lived in Ohio the past 5 years or longer, you will only need a local (BCI) check. For those who have lived outside Ohio, or have lived here less than 5 years, an FBI and BCI will be required. Volunteers are required to pay for their Background Checks; if you would like assistance with this cost, please contact the parish office. When you complete your check, please give them the following code, and it will help to expedite the results to the proper place: ORC 2151.86
